Polaris Indy 600 Starts on fire

mercredi 6 avril 2016

In February my boyfriend purchased a 2014 Polaris Indy 600 ES from an authorized Polaris Dealer in Brandon, Manitoba Canada for me. The sled was pre owned and only had 1200 miles on it with an extended two year warranty. The dealer completed some work to the sled prior to us purchasing it (changed the track and removed/installed front and rear bumpers). After traveling two hours to purchase the sled and then two hours home it was not until the next day by boyfriend took it out. The sled was not driven for more then 10 minutes and it caught on fire and burnt to the ground. Fortunately no one was hurt. We did not own it for more than 24 hours. I know what your thinking - how could this happen? I contacted Polaris warranty and apparently the warranty excludes total losses, hard to believe right? This did not sit will with me so I wrote a letter to the president of Polaris; I heard nothing back from him or his company. Evidently there was something wrong with the sled as it had no top end, either faulty workmanship on behalf of the dealer or a manufacturer's product defect. Sadly no one, meaning the dealer or the manufacturer have made any attempt to make a bad situation better.

A month later I ran into another sledder who had the same machine, year etc and after sharing my misfortune with him he informed me that his sled had caught on fire too, on the same side - exhaust side after backfiring. He was able to extinguish the fire though.
