I'm in the market to buy a used sled in the spring. I'm looking at 2001 or 2002 Indy 500 XC, that's my ideal sled for the money(I'm on a budget). But I'm finding more 600 XC out there on Craigslist in the same price range. I'm new to the sport and don't want something too heavy or that has too much power for me (I used to ride when I was a teenager, but it's been years and wanted to get back into it on a reasonable used sled). I know that people talk about the Indy 500 engines from that era (90's-00's) being very reliable. I've also been told that the 2001 and up Edge chassis is a much smoother ride, that's why I'm looking for 2001 or 2002. So, with that all being said, here's my question: If I'm looking for something reliable, light, with decent power but not too much and I can't seem to find the right 500 XC, would a 600 XC be comparable on all fronts with just a bit more power? Keep in mind, I'll have time to look around, so it's not a super time sensitive thing. Should I just stick to my gut and keep looking for the perfect 500 or consider a 600 and be just as happy? Thanks for any input!
