I have a pair of VIP Panthers that need restored. I've had absolutely no luck coming up with servicing or repair information for the "Cat-A-Matic" transmissions, and believe me I've searched! Parts are difficult to find, too, though they are at least available.
Also, I've had little luck trading them off. So rather than just have them sitting around, taking up space, I was wondering if it was possible to convert a VIP over to the standard Cat CVT clutches and chaincase. They wouldn't have the original hydraulic driveline, but that's not the only feature that makes them unique. So I'd rather have a converted, rideable sled than two rare parts collections.
Can anyone tell me if this conversion is a realistic option? Any input would be appreciated.
