xc700 still dropping a cylinder

samedi 16 janvier 2016

Hello all. I have posted about this problem before and am dumbfounded about a solution. I have a 2000 XC700 that drops a cylinder after being run. Example, ran trails for 3 hours perfect, ate lunch, ran 3 more hours perfect, took a break, ran 2 hours, started acting up. One cylinder stops firing. It only happens at night (maybe random coincidence). It will run fine once it cools down. I thought it was something with the ducatti ignition, changed the coil, still happens. So I changed the entire ignition system over to the separate cdi and coil, also changed the flywheel and stator to go with it. Still happens. I figure it cant be carburation, because that should show up more consistantly. I would think my ignition swaps rule out ignition. Compression is 120 on both cylinders. Doesn't overheat. Plugs are not lean. No evidence of a coolant leak into the cylinder. It runs great, lots of power, until about hour 6. Local mechanic can't help because he's never there when its been run for 6+ hours.... Unless someone has some ideas, I'm ready to part this thing out.
