Polaris 95 XLT SP 600 triple with PSI pipes

vendredi 4 mars 2016

15yr old son has a dream to modify his sled and run PSI pipes. 95 XLT. We call it operation timebmb.
Here is his plan
-late '97 597cc fuji triple. The bottom end has the crank with the bigger PTO and MAG end bearings and a 4th PTO oiler. we have reamed out the oiles a little larger.
-97 hiport cylinders will be bored out to 0.020" over son knifed edged the intakes. left the ports alone
-SPI coated piston new rings and new pins and needle bearings
-97 Polaris trail style heads (Polris copy of the SLP heads)
-VM38 mm Mikunis starting 300 or 310 jets depending on venting
-Nose cone radiaor
-Primary clutch 44g weights, starting with 140/285 lb
-secondary clutch HSP S34 46/34 helix and 45/100lb spring
-PSI pipes
-plan to run 20/39 gears

Questions:
1) Are we are on the right path to success to run these PSI pipes ?
2) Has anyone had success running PSI pipes in 97-99 XLT (4th line PTO oiler bottom ends) ?
3) Read these pipes are hard to stay tuned will a Tempa-Flow help ?
4) Any other ideas or thoughts ?

I had a lot of good input from others as he had these setup on the original 95 XLT engine and 250 miles PTO crank bearing failed. Now project timebomb is going again.
