For my '93 Deluxe, I came to the sad reality that I must have connected the gas lines incorrectly. I put it all together a week ago, and just now tried cranking it over. It did start for few secs, but took a long time to do so, and I was very puzzled when I saw gas coming out of what must have been an unidentified hole in my exhaust pipe - right at the bottom of the first curve.
I removed the exhaust pipe, and as I proceeded to pull the cord, I saw gas coming out of the exhaust manifold - every time, even after I had switched the gas on/off valve to off. Could someone please post a diagram with the three hoses coming out of the proportioning valve, or whatever it's called that's bolted to the bottom side of the tunnel?
My hunch is that as I was pulling the cord, I was throwing gas not into one of the carbs, but into the bottom side of the crankcase. I'm going to pull the hoses off the carbs to start with, and if one is dry, then the hoses are certainly not correct.
