may as well rebuild the indy 400!

well been doing lots of work on the indy 400. i knew the compression was down but was just gonna run it for the season then came across another issue. seems i have a little coolant getting into the oil somehow. im guessing slight head gasket or base gasket leak? both cylinders had 100 psi and thats no good.sled has 5000 miles on it and i.ve got alot of time in fixing and replacing all the worn out stuff. rather then screw around i've decided to rebuild now. motor is all out and disassembled. pistons looked decent with next to no wear but the cylinders have a little wear. i can just ever so slight feel at the top of the cylinder the wear. probably could have just honed and stuck a new set of rings but decided to go way over board! i found 2 new spi pistons and rings with wrist-pin .010 over for 39.00 shipped and a full spi gasket set for $32 shipped. just need to order wrist pin bearing and sealer for the cases. once i get the pistons i can take the cylinder down for a bore. i see others have used permatex motoseal to reseal the cases and i think i will too. its made and advertised just for this and is gas resistant. hopefully everything will come together without a hitch. its been along time since i've had anything bored so im not sure what thats gonna cost.
