I was at my local Arctic Cat dealer a few weeks go picking up some odds and ends and some fuel line. The shop is run by two brothers. One brother was away, so the brother who normally does the wrenching was helping me out.
I asked for 1/4" fuel line and he asked what year sled "1996" I told him. He went on to say those sleds use 3/16 line. On it's own, it's a bear to install. But if you heat the end up gently with a lighter and put a little WD40 on the fitting, it should slide on will a little pushing. He went on to say, over time the 1/4" line just pressed on will most likely fall off in the tank. (I actually had a leak issue last year where I lost a few gallons of gas during the week due to lines not being tight on the fuel pump)
This weekend, I tried the heating/WD 40 trick. Took a little practice, but worked perfectly. It leaves a very tight seal and you don't need any clamps or zip ties to hold things together.
I then went to remove the threaded adapter from my tank to replace the 1/4" line I had put in there two season ago....it fell off in the tank. Glad I sorted this out now! I'll be doing the same to the Jag this week...
