I'm looking for advice on getting a snowmobile that would allow me and my wife to safely evacuate our mountain home during snow & ice events that make our roads unsafe for ordinary traffic. I need to know what models to consider, how wide a trail I need for safe operation at low speeds and short distances, how steep a slope I can safely negotiate, and whether I can count on being able to brake for sharp downhill turns. An additional concern is how I will get the beast out of its sheltered storage onto the snowy lawn. Any assistance will be appreciated!
